Bunk Bed Safety Guidelines from the Consumer Product Safety Commission state that kids younger than 6-years-old should never sleep in the upper bunk. It may be appropriate for younger children to sleep on the bottom bunk bed. Please continue reading for more information on factors to consider when judging what age children should sleep on the bottom bunk bed.
Yes, a teenager 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, or 19 years-old can typically sleep on a bunk bed. However, it's essential to consider factors such as the child's maturity, physical abilities, and safety awareness before allowing them to use a bunk bed. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Maturity Level: At 13 years old, most children are capable of understanding and following safety rules associated with bunk beds. Make sure your child is responsible enough to use the bunk bed safely.
Physical Abilities: Ensure that your child can safely climb up and down the ladder or stairs to access the top bunk. They should also be tall enough that they won't easily fall out of the bed while sleeping.
Safety Rules: Talk to your child about the importance of following safety rules, such as no roughhousing on the beds, not leaning over the edge of the top bunk, and using the ladder or stairs properly.
Bed Design: Choose a bunk bed that meets safety standards and has features like guardrails on the top bunk to prevent falls. Regularly inspect the bed for any loose bolts, screws, or other potential hazards.
Siblings and Roommates: If your child will be sharing the bunk bed with a sibling or roommate, consider their relationship and how well they get along. Ensure that they are comfortable with the arrangement.
Monitoring: Initially, keep an eye on your child to ensure they are adjusting to the bunk bed safely. Reinforce safety rules as needed.
While a 13-year-old is generally old enough to sleep on a bunk bed, it's important to use your judgment as a parent or guardian and assess your child's readiness for this type of bed. Safety should always be the top priority, so make sure your child understands and follows the safety guidelines associated with bunk beds to prevent accidents.
Bunk beds can be suitable for adults in certain situations, but they are typically designed with children in mind. Whether bunk beds are appropriate for adults depends on various factors:
Size and Weight Capacity: Most bunk beds are designed to accommodate children or lighter-weight individuals. If an adult is considering using a bunk bed, it's crucial to check the bed's weight capacity and dimensions. Some manufacturers offer bunk beds designed for adults with larger weight limits and longer mattress sizes.
Ceiling Height: Bunk beds require adequate ceiling height to provide comfortable space on the top bunk. Ensure that your room has sufficient vertical space to accommodate an adult on the top bunk without discomfort. We usually recommend at least two feet from the top of the bunk bed to the ceiling, however adults may want more space.
Safety: Bunk beds for adults should be built with safety in mind. Look for models with sturdy frames, guardrails on the top bunk, and secure ladders or stairs for easy access.
Comfort: Adults may have different comfort needs compared to children. Consider the type and thickness of the mattresses, as well as any additional bedding or support, to ensure a comfortable night's sleep.
Mobility: Climbing to the top bunk can be more challenging for adults, especially those with mobility issues. Make sure the ladder or stairs are suitable for adult use and provide adequate support.
Roommates: If you're considering bunk beds for an adult shared living situation, such as a dormitory or a hostel, they can be a practical space-saving option. However, privacy and comfort should still be taken into account.
Temporary Use: Bunk beds for adults are often used in situations where space is limited, such as vacation cabins or guest rooms. They can be a convenient solution for short-term stays.
In summary, while bunk beds are primarily associated with children, there are bunk bed options designed to accommodate adults. If considering bunk beds for adult use, ensure that they meet safety and comfort requirements, provide sufficient space, and are appropriate for the intended purpose, whether that's in a guest room or shared living space. Always check the manufacturer's guidelines and weight capacity to ensure safety. It's a good idea to have heavier individuals sleep on the bottom bunk bed when possible.
What age can a child sleep on bottom bunk?Short answer - there is no minimum age for a bottom bunk bed. The minimum age children should sleep in the top bunk bed is six years old.
The appropriate age for a child to sleep on the bottom bunk of a bunk bed can vary depending on several factors, including the child's maturity, size, and individual circumstances. Here are some general guidelines to consider:
Maturity Level: A child's ability to follow safety rules and use the bunk bed responsibly is crucial. Some children may be ready for the bottom bunk at around 3 years old, while others may need more time to develop the necessary responsibility and understanding of safety precautions. Consider adding a guard rail to the lower bunk bed for younger children.
Size and Physical Capability: Ensure that the child is physically capable of safely climbing up and down from the top bunk, as well as getting in and out of the bottom bunk without difficulty. The child should also be tall enough that they won't easily fall out of the bottom bunk.
Safety Rules: Teach your child important safety rules for using bunk beds, regardless of whether they sleep on the top or bottom bunk. Emphasize not roughhousing on the beds, not leaning over the edges, no jumping, and using the ladder or stairs properly.
Sibling Dynamics: If your child shares a bunk bed with a sibling, consider their relationship and how well they get along. Ensure that both children are comfortable with the arrangement.
Bed Design: Choose a bunk bed that meets safety standards. Bunk beds are required to have guardrails on the top bunk to prevent falls. Regularly inspect the bed for any loose bolts, screws, or other potential hazards.
Parental Supervision: Initially, it's a good idea to supervise your child when they start using the bottom bunk to ensure they adapt to the arrangement safely and follow safety guidelines.
Room Layout: Consider the layout of the room. Ensure there is enough space around the bunk bed for safe movement and that the bed doesn't obstruct any windows or doors.
In summary, the appropriate age for a child to sleep on the bottom bunk can vary, but it's generally when the child is mature enough and physically capable of using the bunk bed safely. Always prioritize safety, educate your child about bunk bed safety rules, and supervise their use of the bunk bed initially to ensure a smooth transition.
Many bunk beds are designed to be used as separate twin beds, providing versatility as your needs change. Please contact us to inquire if one of our bunk beds can be separated into two stand alone beds.
Consider factors like room size, ceiling height, and the needs of the users. Measure the space carefully to ensure the bunk bed fits comfortably. If teenagers or adults might use the bunk bed, it's best to have heavier individuals sleep on the bottom bunk bed. Consider looking for a bunk bed with a larger bed on the bottom to accommodate guests. Don't forget kids must be at least six years old to sleep on the top bunk bed!
Most bunk beds do not include mattresses. You'll typically need to purchase mattresses separately. Our bunk beds do not come with mattresses. We have mattresses for sale separately.
Regularly check for loose bolts or screws and tighten them as needed. To clean, wipe down with a damp cloth, and vacuum mattresses regularly.
Remember that safety is a top priority when using bunk beds, especially for children. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for safe usage.

As a retailer of children's beds and bunk beds, we are concerned about the recent increase in bunk beds for sale in the United States that are imported from other countries. It seems that major US marketplaces might be allowing retailers to sell bunk beds on their marketplace without verifying that the required safety tested has been completed. Why do we have this concern? We sell on several US marketplaces and have never been asked to provide copies of our safety testing. Of course we have completed all required testing and have the copies on file.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, "Manufacturers and importers of children's bunk beds must certify in a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) that the bunk beds comply with the standard and the additional requirements after the bunk beds have been tested for compliance at a CPSC-accepted, third party laboratory."
To investigate our concerns, we found 5 bunk beds for sale on Amazon that appeared to be imported. Here are the results of our inquiry:
Two sellers responded and provided copies of safety testing, as required. The safety testing appeared to cover all applicable regulations and the bunk beds passed the testing.
Another Amazon seller responded with the message, "Dear Buyer Our bed frames are subjected to strict quality control, but the safety test report you need I do not have for the time being Because these are the factory technicians responsible for testing You can buy our bed frames with confidence Will not let you down!" This message raises red flags that safety testing may not have been completed, and no matter who completes the safety testing the retailer is required to have a copy on file. I responded with, "Hello. I need to see the report before I can buy the bed, so I know that it's been safety tested. Thank you." I did not receive a response from the seller.
The remaining two sellers did not respond to our request.
While this exploration was very limited, it did seem to validate our concerns that there are bunk beds for sale in the US that might not have been safety tested. As parents and a children's furniture we are very concerned about this. We're hoping to raise awareness, so that all products for sale in the US are safe for our children.
Bunk beds can be a great space-saving option for families with multiple children or limited bedroom space. However, it is important to understand and prioritize safety when choosing a bunk bed for your home. In the United States, there are several safety standards that bunk beds must meet in order to be considered safe for use.
One of the most important safety standards is the ASTM International Standard for Bunk Beds (F1427). This standard outlines specific requirements for the construction and design of bunk beds, including the materials used, spacing of guardrails and ladder rungs, and the strength of the bed's components. Bunk beds that meet this standard have undergone rigorous testing and have been proven to be safe for use.
In addition to the ASTM standard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) also regulates bunk beds in the United States. The CPSC has specific guidelines for bunk bed safety, including the height of the top bunk, the placement of guardrails, and the size of gaps in the bed's structure. Bunk beds that meet CPSC guidelines are considered safe for use and have been thoroughly tested to ensure their safety.
One key aspect of bunk bed safety is ensuring that the bed has appropriate guardrails. Here are some requirements for bunk bed rails to keep in mind:
Height: The top bunk should have guardrails on all sides that are at least 5 inches higher than the mattress. This helps to prevent children from rolling off the top bunk while they sleep.
Spacing: The spacing between the guardrail slats should be no more than 3.5 inches. This helps to prevent children from getting stuck or trapped between the slats.
Strength: The guardrails should be sturdy and strong enough to withstand the weight of a child leaning against them or accidentally falling into them. They should be securely attached to the bed frame to prevent them from becoming loose or unstable.
It is important to note that not all bunk beds on the market meet these safety standards. Some bunk beds may be made with cheaper materials or may be poorly constructed, which can lead to safety hazards for children. That is why it is important to research and purchase bunk beds from reputable manufacturers and sellers who prioritize safety and adhere to safety standards. Retailers are required to provide proof that bunk beds and loft beds have passed required safety testing upon request.
When shopping for a bunk bed, be sure to look for a label or certificate that indicates the bed meets ASTM and CPSC safety standards. Additionally, be sure to inspect the bed's construction and design yourself, looking for any potential safety hazards such as gaps in the structure, loose or wobbly components, or insufficient guardrails.
In summary, bunk bed safety standards are in place to protect children and ensure that bunk beds are safe for use. By prioritizing safety and purchasing a bunk bed that meets these standards, parents can rest assured that their children are sleeping in a safe and secure environment.

A Montessori floor bed is a low-to-the-ground bed that allows babies and young children to have the freedom to move around and explore their environment. It is a minimalist approach to sleeping, without the confines of traditional cribs and bassinets. The idea behind the Montessori floor bed is to create a safe and comfortable space for your child that promotes independence and exploration.
A Montessori floor bed allows your baby to develop independence by providing them with a safe space to explore and move around. Instead of feeling confined to a crib, your baby can freely move in and out of their bed, which helps them develop a sense of autonomy and confidence.
Babies learn through movement, and a floor house bed provides them with the freedom to explore their surroundings. When babies can move around on their own, they are more likely to engage in activities that promote cognitive development, such as reaching for toys, crawling, and pulling themselves up.
A Montessori floor bed is designed to be safe for your baby. By eliminating the need for a crib or bassinet, you reduce the risk of your baby getting injured while trying to climb out of their bed.
A Montessori floor bed encourages a healthy sleep routine by allowing your baby to self-soothe and fall asleep on their own. When your baby is able to move freely in and out of their bed, they are more likely to develop a healthy sleep pattern that supports their overall health and wellbeing.
A Montessori floor bed is a space-saving solution that is perfect for smaller bedrooms. Since the bed is on the floor, it does not take up as much space as a traditional crib or bassinet. This means that you can maximize the space in your baby's room and create a cozy, inviting environment for your little one.
In conclusion, a Montessori floor bed is a great option for parents who want to create a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for their baby while promoting independence and exploration. With the benefits of a Montessori floor bed, your baby can enjoy a healthy sleep routine and develop into a confident, independent little one. As a reminder, make sure to always consult with your child's pediatrician when make decisions about sleep for your baby or toddler.
]]>Designing a toddler room can be a daunting task, especially if you want to incorporate educational elements into the room. Fortunately, Montessori principles provide a great foundation for designing a toddler bedroom that is both functional and educational. In this article, we will explore Montessori principles and how they can be applied in designing a Montessori bedroom.
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator who developed an educational approach based on the understanding that children learn best when they are allowed to explore and discover on their own. Montessori principles focus on the development of the whole child, including physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. The principles emphasize that children should be encouraged to learn through their senses and that they should be given the freedom to explore and discover in a safe and nurturing environment.
In designing a toddler room, Montessori principles can be applied in several ways, including:
Montessori principles emphasize that children should be at the center of their learning environment. This means that the design of the Montessori bedroom should be child-centered, with furniture and materials that are sized and arranged to meet the needs of the child. For example, a low bed or mattress on the floor can be used instead of a traditional crib or toddler bed, allowing the child to get in and out of bed independently.
Montessori principles emphasize that children need space to move and explore. Therefore, the design of the toddler room should incorporate open space for the child to move around freely. This can be achieved by avoiding clutter and unnecessary furniture, allowing the child to move around freely and explore their environment.
Montessori principles emphasize the use of natural materials, such as wood and cotton, as they are more tactile and provide sensory stimulation for the child. Natural materials are also more durable and environmentally friendly than synthetic materials. Therefore, when designing a Montessori bedroom, natural materials should be used whenever possible, including in the furniture and toys.
Montessori principles emphasize that order and organization are important for a child's sense of security and independence. Therefore, the design of the toddler room should be organized and free of clutter, with a place for everything and everything in its place. This can be achieved by using shelves, baskets, and other storage solutions to keep toys and other items organized.
Montessori principles emphasize that children should be given the freedom to choose their activities and materials. Therefore, the design of the toddler room should incorporate a variety of toys and materials that the child can choose from. This can include toys that encourage exploration, such as blocks and puzzles, as well as toys that encourage creativity, such as art supplies and musical instruments.

Before starting the assembly, you must have the necessary tools and materials. It will make the process a lot smoother and quicker. You will need:
A drill
A screwdriver
A measuring tape
A level
An assistant
The instruction manual
You will also need to gather all the parts of the bunk bed. Make sure you have everything necessary and that there are no missing pieces. If missing something, do not start the assembly until you have all the parts.
Once you have the necessary tools and materials, you can start with the assembly. The first thing you need to do is to assemble the bed frame. It is relatively easy to do and should not take more than a few hours.
If you use a power drill, use the correct bit size. You don't want to strip the screws or damage the wood. Be very careful not to apply too much pressure, as power drills can strip screws and cause wood to crack.
Be careful when handling the bed frame parts and use caution when attaching them. Make sure that everything is tightened correctly and that there are no loose parts.
Also, remember that it is always best to have someone help you with this part of the assembly, especially if you are not used to working with power tools.
The next step is to install the ladder. This part of the assembly is relatively easy, but you must do it properly.
First, you need to refer to the assembly instructions to find out where the ladder must be located. Once you have done this, you can start attaching the ladder parts.
Ensure that the screws are tightened correctly and that there are no loose parts. Also, ensure that the ladder is securely attached to the bed frame before moving on to the next step.
Think about how much fun your kids will have when they’re climbing into bed!
The guard rails must be installed next. Although this assembly step is relatively simple, you must complete it correctly.
It would help if you first note where the guard rails should be placed. After completing this, you can begin joining the guard rail's component sections.
Verify that the screws are correctly tightened and that there are no loose components. Before continuing to the following step, ensure the guard rails are firmly fastened to the bed frame.
Once in place they will give you peace of mind knowing your kids will be safe!
The last step is to finish up. It includes adding the mattress and any other accessories that you want. Once you have added the mattress, you can make the bed and add any additional accessories.
There are some optional features that you can add to your bunk bed. These include a trundle bed or a desk. If you want to add a trundle bed, you will need to purchase one separately. The same goes for a desk. Adding these features is unnecessary, but it can make your bunk bed more versatile and functional.
That's it! You have now successfully assembled your triple bunk bed.
Assembling a bunk bed can be tricky, and it's essential to do it safely. Here are some tips to help you out:

Now that you know about triple bunk beds, it's time to start shopping for the perfect one for your home. Keep these tips in mind to help you find the ideal mattress and bunk bed for your needs.
Having triple bunk beds can be a great way to save space and accommodate more people in your home. However, it's essential to keep safety in mind when using these kinds of beds. Here are some tips to help you keep your children safe on a triple bunk bed:
The most important thing you can do to keep your children safe on a triple bunk bed is ensure the mattress is not too tall. You want as much guardrail exposed as possible, to prevent your child from falling out of bed. A 6-inch thick mattress is the best choice for bunk beds. You should always check to ensure that the bed is solid and sturdy. You should also check the bed regularly to ensure that it is in good condition and has no loose or missing parts.
If a triple bunk bed does not have built-in guardrails on the lofted beds, you should not purchase it as it doesn’t meet safety requirements. Barriers will help prevent your children from falling out of the bed and getting hurt. Safety regulations require guardrails on both sides of the bed and at the end of the bed.
Another essential safety tip is ensuring the bed is the right size for your child. You should measure your child's height and weight to ensure they will be comfortable on the bed. It would help if you also ensured that your child had enough space to move around and not feel cramped.
It's essential to check the mattress regularly to ensure it is in good condition. You should look for any tears or holes in the mattress and ensure that it is clean and free of any stains. You should also make sure that the mattress is the right size for the bed. You do not want large gaps between the mattress and the bed frame.
If the bunk bed has a ladder, you must ensure it is securely attached. You should also ensure that the ladder is not too steep or slippery. It would be best to teach your child how to use the ladder safely and ensure they understand the importance of not climbing on the bed without permission.
It would be best if you showed your children how to properly use the bunk bed, including how to get on and off of it safely. It is important that children know that bunk beds are not designed for jumping. Ensure they understand the importance of not climbing or jumping on the bunk bed without permission.
You should constantly monitor your children using the bunk bed to ensure they are safe. It means keeping an eye on them and ensuring they are not climbing or jumping on the bed without permission. If you have concerns about your child's safety, you should stop them from using the bunk bed.
Finally, you should make sure that the bed is in a safe location. It would be best if you did not put the bed near windows or doors where your child could fall out. You should also ensure that the mattress is away from sharp objects or furniture that could hurt your child.
By following these tips, you can help to keep your children safe on a triple bunk bed. Remember always to use caution and monitor your children when they are using any bunk bed.

A bunk bed is a type of bed in which one bed is stacked on top of another. Bunk beds are usually used in limited spaces, such as small bedrooms or dorm rooms.
Bunk beds are a great option if you are looking for a bed that will save floor space in your room. They are also a good choice if you want to be able to sleep more than one person in a room. However, bunk beds can be dangerous if they are not used properly, so it is vital to make sure that you follow all safety instructions when using them.
A twin bed is a type of bed that is the same size as a single bed. Twin beds are a good option for people who only need a single bed, and don’t need the extra sleeping space that a double or queen size bed would provide.
While twin beds are a good choice for many people, they may not be the best option if you need extra sleeping space in your room.
Now that you know more about bunk beds and twin beds, it’s time to decide which type of bed is right for you.
Once you have considered all of these factors, you should be able to decide which type of bed is best for you.
1. SizeThe first thing you need to consider is the size of your room. A bunk bed might be the best option for a small space. Bunk beds are available in different sizes, so you can find one that fits well in your room.
If you have a larger room, then a twin bed might be a better option for you, as you might have enough floor space to accommodate a trundle bed or a second twin bed.
2. CostThe next thing you need to consider is the cost of the bed. Bunk beds can be more expensive than twin beds, but they also have more features.
A twin bed might be the best option if you have a budget. However, if you need two twin beds that option may cost more than one bunk bed.
3. Ease of assemblyAnother thing to consider is how easy it is to assemble the bed. Bunk beds can be more challenging to build than twin beds, so if you are not handy with tools, then a twin bed might be the better option for you.
Assembling your bed should be easy, so if you are unsure how to do it, you can always ask for help from a friend or family member.
4. Storage spaceAnother factor to consider is how much storage space you need. Bunk beds usually have more storage options than twin beds, so a bunk bed might be the best option if you need extra space to store things.
Having an ample storage space lets you declutter your room and have a place to put away seasonal clothes or items. If you are looking to maximize storage space, you may want to choose a bunk bed or twin bed that comes with matching underbed storage drawers.
5. Safety featuresWhen choosing a bed, safety is always an important consideration. Bunk beds can be more dangerous than twin beds for younger children, so if you have a child under six years old then a twin bed might be the better option.
Bunk beds should always be used with the proper safety precautions, such as using the guardrails and not jumping on the bed. If you are not sure about the safety of a bunk bed, then you can always ask for help from a professional.
The last thing to consider is how the bed looks in your room. Bunk bed design comes in different styles and colors, so you can find one that matches your room’s décor.
Two twin beds also come in different styles and colors, but they might not have as many options like bunk beds.
When choosing the best bed for your child, there are many factors to consider. It is important to find a safe and comfortable bunk mattress for your child. A five or six inch thick mattress works best for the top bunk bed, so that more guard rail will be exposed. Once you have considered all of the elements, you should be able to decide which type of bed is best for your child.
It depends on your needs and preferences. Bunk beds are great for small rooms and sleepovers, but they might not be the best option if you have children of different ages. Twin beds are a good option if you need extra storage space or if you want to save money. Ultimately, the best bed for your child is the one that is comfortable and safe.
If you are still undecided, talking to a professional like us at Custom Kids Furniture might be helpful. We can help you weigh the pros and cons of each type of bed and decide what is best for your child.
Loft beds are similar to bunk beds since they are elevated beds. However, loft beds lack the bottom bunk. Instead of a mattress, standard loft beds have space for desks, couches, or toys. Loft beds work well for small rooms to open up more floor space in your child’s room. Bunk beds are better for people who need two beds and have the freedom to accommodate them. Loft beds can be more expensive than bunk beds since they offer more features.
Custom Kids Furniture is the leading provider of kids' bedroom furniture. We offer a wide range of bunk bed designs, twin bed designs, and loft bed designs. Contact us today to find the perfect bed for your child!
Standard Bunk beds are great for small rooms because they free up space that a twin bed would occupy. They’re also great for sleepovers! Your child can invite a friend to stay the night, and they’ll have a built-in bedmate. Bunk beds are also a lot of fun for kids. They can feel like their own little fort or castle, and many kids love climbing up to the top bunk.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for bunk beds:
A twin bed is an excellent option for kids who have outgrown their cribs but aren’t quite ready for a full-size bed. Twin beds are also a good choice for kids who share a room, as they can be pushed together to create one large bed. Many twin beds come with storage options, such as drawers underneath the bed or a trundle bed that can be pulled out for extra sleeping space.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for twin beds:
As you can see, there are many factors to consider when choosing the best bed for your child. But with a bit of research, you should be able to find the perfect bed for your child’s needs.
When choosing a bed for your child, safety should always be your top priority.

Per US law, the bunk bed retailer must be able to provide proof of safety testing upon request.

]]>The questions that so many parents are asking about their young children have to do with when something should be implemented. New parents want to know when their child should make the switch from a toilet trainer to a full toilet. They want to know when to make the transition from training wheels to a bicycle.
One of the most common questions about raising a toddler is when are they ready to move from a crib to a bed? Well, unfortunately, there is no specific age that works for every child. Some children are ready for a toddler bed just around 18 months whereas others might need 2 years or even 3. Making the switch is all about knowing your child and what they need in their bedtime routine.
Transitioning your little one from a child's crib to a new bed is a big deal, but should be treated very similarly to potty training. You have to ease the move but be prepared for a long process. Simply moving your kid into a new bed one night could have some negative side effects. Parents should prepare their kid for the move, well before actually making the bed switch.
As with most new events in the life of your toddler, it is important to be upfront with them and to communicate. One piece of advice that goes a long way in parenting is to talk to your little ones and make sure they understand what is happening and why it's happening. When you tell your kids that they're changing spaces, they'll understand why and what exactly is happening.
Some of these signs are based on the health and safety of your kid whereas others are focused on necessity. The first sign that it's time for a toddler's mattress and bed is when your baby can climb out of the crib. If they're starting to struggle to stay in bed, it means that the crib is no longer effective or necessary. Another sign is when your toddler is too big for the crib. When sleeping at night, it's important that your kid has room to grow and move.
As far as necessity goes, if there's another baby on the way, then it's recommended that the older child moves to a new bed. Now, this depends on the age of the older one - a kid who is 9 months old shouldn't be in a new bed - and you might want to consider getting two cribs. Once your child has begun to show signs of growth and the need for a new mattress and bed, you'll want to make sure the transition is simple.
Whether it be making your crib low to the ground or letting your young ones explore the toddler bed in the day, there are plenty of ways to make the move to your new toddler beds simple. Start by moving any toys or stuffed animals along with them. If they have a favorite blanket, make sure it's there for them. This can be a scary experience for your toddlers, so bringing comfort and familiarity into the new bed will be so important.
Overall, let them know they're safe. If they need the crib back for a night, let them sleep there. Bedtime in their new bed will come eventually! Our collection of toddler floor beds may help ease the transition, and eliminate worry about your little one falling out of their new bed. Please contact us if we can answer any questions.

]]>We specialize in fun, creative, and space-saving loft beds for children. We offer many different solutions to help you organize your kid’s room.
Looking to sleep several kids in one room?
Our selection of triple bunk beds has you covered. We have triple bunk beds in many different configurations to fit your space. We even have quadruple bunk beds with trundles and triple bunk beds with trundles to sleep up to five kids. These beds are very popular with customers who own beach homes and other vacation properties. Lots of our twin lofts have matching full size beds that fit underneath, and that’s also a good way to sleep three kids in one room.
Looking to make your child's room more fun?
Check out our selection of loft beds for kids with a slide. These beds have a built-in slide which is awesome, of course, but they also free up lots of floor space for stuffed animals, toys, and storage. Add an under-bed tent and you have the bed of mom and dad’s dreams. Throw all the toys under the tent and the room looks tidy in one minute flat!
Want a space for your kid to do homework in their room?
We have several loft beds for kids with built-in desks. The desk is a great place to store electronics, homework, art supplies, and more. Most of our loft beds with desks have extra storage drawers or dressers built-in too, as an extra bonus.
Prefer stairs instead of a ladder?
We have several loft beds that come with a staircase. We can also custom build lofts in any height with a staircase. We can build custom loft beds for kids with matching dressers to fit underneath and built-in desks, too.
Want a hangout space under the loft?
We have loft beds with futons underneath that are great for older kids or a doom room. The futons recline into a full bed to provide a sleeping space for guests.
Want a loft for a younger child?
It’s important to note that US safety regulations recommend that a child should be at least six years old to sleep in a bunk bed or a loft bed. We have several low loft designs that would be a good choice for a younger child. These lofts are about 43 inches tall and several of them come with a slide, a desk or dressers and bookcases underneath. Some parents feel more comfortable with their kid sleeping in a lower loft bed than a tall loft bed or top bunk.

Have you heard of house frame floor beds for kids? They look adorable with their house frame shape and are easy to accessorize for your child’s room. That being said…when people see my daughters floor bed, they are often thrown for a loop. Sleeping on the floor is a unique concept in the U.S. even though it’s very common in other parts of the world. Here are some of the most common questions people ask me.
Does your daughter stay in her bed?
No…she doesn’t. That’s the point of a toddler floor bed. Your child is free to get up and explore her environment. Most nights my daughter is tired and will fall asleep in her bed quickly. Sometimes she isn’t tired and will roam around and play in her room for a little while. The great part of having this bed is that she’s developed the ability to put herself to sleep when she is ready to go to bed.
How do you keep your daughter in her room at night?
Consistency is key with this one. The first few nights she would get out of her bed, and we would carry her right back to her room and lay her down. After two or three nights of this she got the idea, and we haven’t had a problem since. Sometimes when we have family visit or she gets off her schedule, she needs a reminder to stay in bed. But for the most part she stays in her bed.
Would you use a floor bed with your next child?
I would definitely use a floor bed again and plan to use one with our next child. I think the key is knowing your child and listening to their needs. A floor bed might not work for every child and it’s important to be flexible if it’s not the right fit for your little one. Remember that it’s okay to try the floor bed and then change it up for awhile if it isn’t working. Hopefully you could come back to it again as your child changes and grows. Do what is best for you and your child.
Where did you buy the bed from?
We purchased our bed online from Custom Kids Furniture. I would highly recommend their Sophia bed, as we purchased a bed on a Monday and had it up and assembled on Friday of the same week. The other shops I found that sell this bed are on Etsy and they custom build the bed which takes about six weeks.
My husband and I worked together on the assembly and it took us about two hours. It was fairly straight forward, and not too difficult (for furniture assembly). The bed was reasonably priced and the quality was good.
Is the bed sturdy? I’ve heard these can be wobbly?
I get this question a lot. I’m not sure about some of the beds being wobbly, but the one we bought isn’t. We’re happy with it and it is sturdy.
