Introducing our versatile Luca Montessori Floor Bed with Rails, crafted to evolve seamlessly from toddlerhood to the teenage years and beyond, providing a comfortable transition from crib to a big kid bed. Its low ground height and protective sides ensure a secure environment, preventing any accidental rolls. As your child grows, the bed adapts effortlessly – remove the long side rails, and add the feet to continue the transitional journey.

The Luca bed is also designed to convert into a regular height bed, a loft bed, or a bunk bed with our conversion kits coming in stock in 2025.

Safety and Style for Kids' Rooms

Our Luca toddler floor bed with rails comes with bed slats and 4-inch legs, and is tested  to support at least 400 pounds (all sizes).  Plus the no VOC and water-based natural finish is safe for your little one.  The bed can be assembled without the legs to sit directly on the floor. The bed just needs a standard twin size, twin xl size, or full size mattress.

Made of high-quality pine wood, the bed is durable and can keep serving your kids as they grow. The bed has pre-drilled holes which are standard features of our beds, so the bed is easy to assemble without taking too much time. The front guard rail and the back guard rail (the long sides) can be removed when no longer needed to covert this bed to a regular twin bed with only a headboard and footboard.

Our Luca floor bed is built with vertical guard rails spaced less than 2 3/8 inches apart to be as safe as possible.  This bed meets all applicable safety guidelines, and is independently inspected for quality control. 

Please note that this floor bed is not recommended for children under 12 months old due to mattress material and firmness. Crib mattresses are specifically designed to provide extra firmness for the safety of babies during sleep. Always adhere to safe sleep practices for your little ones, and discuss sleep decisions with your pediatrician who knows your child's individual needs.

Orders are processed in one to two business days and shipped for free in the contiguous U.S. via Fedex ground, which takes one to five business days.

  • Is this available in white?

    Hi Nicole.  Yes the Luca bed is available in white in twin size 😊.

  • It’s not clear with the Luca bed that if you don’t put the feet on how high off the ground does the mattress sit for breath ability?

    Hi Nina.  Without the legs the mattress sits about 1 inch off of the ground on the slats.  Please let us know if we can answer any other questions!

  • What is the difference between the Luca bed with rails(twin) and Luca bed with gate(twin)? Can Luca bed with gate be assembled without gate?

    Hi Don.  The gate is the only difference between the two beds.  The Luca bed with gate can be assembled without the gate.  The railings have pilot holes predrilled to attach the gate that would be visible. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions!

  • Standard Twin Size measurements in CA are 38"x75". Is that ok? The one I liked is 38"x75" at 10" height is that ok?

    Hi Eve.  We recommend a 39 inches wide mattress, so there aren’t gaps between the mattress and the rails. We have 39 inch wide mattresses for sale - hybrid mattresses, memory foam mattresses, or organic mattresses.

  • Hello! I was wondering if it was possible to order the Luca floor bed in a size full with a gate? Thank you!

  • Can you adjust the side rail opening to be left or right?

  • What mattress is recommended to purchase with this bed?

    Hi Tarah.  A 6 to 8 inch thick mattress works best with our Luca bed.  We have one for sale here that works well.  It’s important that the mattress dimensions match those specified in the product description. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions!

  • Can you flip the cooling mattress to utilize both sides?

  • Are the rails bars attached already or does that need to be done separately? How many pieces comes with this bed?

    Hello.  The bed ships will the rails already built, so assembly is fairly straightforward.  The bed comes with four side rails parts, the legs, slats, and side slat supports.  We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have!

  • Can the wood be painted? Is an 11” mattress suitable for the Luca Toddler bed?

  • Can a twin be used for a toddler

  • What kind of wood do you use?

  • How much weight does this hold? Can we lay in bed with our son?

  • What is the distance between the vertical rails?

    Hi Hannah.  The distance between the vertical rails is 2 3/8 inches to meet the crib safety standards.  This bed is not intended for infants, but the rails are spaced close together to be as safe as possible.  Please let us know if we can answer any other questions!

  • What's the difference between the Luca and the Levi beds?

    Hi Trista.  The Luca and Levi beds are essentially the same bed, however the Levi bed does not come with legs and sits directly on the floor.  Please let us know how else we can assist you!

  • Are the legs removable? We might like to add as child gets older.

  • Is it possible to paint or stain the bed a different color or finish?

    Hi Cara. Yes you can paint the bed yourself if you would like to. The bed has a factory finish, so you would need to use a type of paint that will work with finished furniture. Our Luca bed also comes in white, twin size. Please let us know how else we can assist you!
